Nicoletti Calia Italia began in 1965 when veteran master carpenter Liborio Vincenzo Calia decided to build and sell premium sofas in Matera, Italy. Calia is said to have believed that a sofa ought to be a wonderful piece of furniture on which to rest, carry on engaging conversations, and on which to dream. In the early years of Calia Italia, Liborio Vincenzo Calia was responsible for many things: designing new pieces, developing manufacturing plans and strategies, overseeing construction, teaching his craft to young furniture craftsmen and attentive customer service.
